Will money move today?

Each country is judged on its own financial-centre clock and its own weekend — click a pill for the full calendar.

Where's my money?

If a payment left and hasn't landed, the answer is usually a calendar, not a failure. A transfer only moves when both ends are on a banking day — and the two ends rarely share one. A wire sent from New York on Thursday can sit through Colombia's Monday holiday, Israel's Friday, or China's Golden Week without anyone making a mistake. This site holds the official calendar for 18 countries, read from each country's own central bank or gazette, so you can see exactly which days your money can actually move — before you send it, or while you wait.

When are both sides settling?

Pick the two ends of your transfer. Green chips are the days in the next month when both countries are on a banking day — the only days money can move end to end.

Will money move — there, on that date?

Pick a country and a date. The answer comes from that country's own published calendar and its own weekend definition — nothing else.

The full calendar, by country

Every date below was read from the country's own authority, linked with its read date. Red cards are provisional — moon-dependent dates awaiting official confirmation. Blue cards are the opposite of a holiday: weekends declared working days.

🇦🇺 Australia

weekend: Sat + Sun
Convention: Public holidays are state-gazetted; this record uses New South Wales (Sydney, the financial centre) per NSW Government (Public Holidays Act 2010). Other states differ (e.g. Labour Day dates, Melbourne Cup in VIC). The NSW August 'Bank Holiday' is NOT a declared public holiday but retail bank branches must close (Retail Trading Act 2008 Part 3A) — included and flagged.
Standard Sat/Sun weekend. NSW Public Holidays Act 2010: additional Monday/Tuesday holidays when New Year's, Christmas or Boxing Day falls on a weekend; Australia Day shifts to Monday if on a weekend; Anzac Day observed on the day.

  • The 2026-04-27 'Additional Day' row appears in the published NSW table without a qualifying footnote; the Act's stated additional-day rule covers New Year's/Christmas/Boxing Day, and the FAQ says Anzac Day is observed on the day. Recorded as published; treat as NSW-gazetted but worth re-checking against the Government Gazette before relying on it for settlement.
  • RBA/ASX settlement calendars follow state public holidays in NSW for AUD high-value settlement; not separately fetched.

🇧🇷 Brazil

weekend: Sat + Sun
Convention: National bank holidays ('feriados bancários nacionais') per Febraban under CMN Resolução n.º 4.880 de 23/12/2020 — the calendar the Brazilian banking system actually observes. State/municipal holidays (e.g. São Paulo's 9 July, city anniversaries) close local branches but are not in this national list. Carnival Monday and Tuesday ARE bank holidays by this calendar even though they are not national statutory public holidays.
Sat/Sun are non-business days for banking per CMN Resolução 4.880/2020; no substitute-day rule (Proclamação da República 2026 falls on a Sunday and is absorbed).

  • State and municipal holidays additionally close local branches (not listed here).
  • Febraban is the banking federation, expressly allowed as the source for this list alongside BCB; the bcb.gov.br 'feriados' pages returned 404/JS-empty at read date (dead ends logged in INTL-B.md).
  • Febraban had not published the 2027 national list at read date.

🇨🇦 Canada

weekend: Sat + Sun
Convention: Federal public holidays as recognized by the Government of Canada (CRA list) — these govern federally regulated banks. Provinces and territories ADD further holidays (e.g. Family Day in Feb in several provinces, Quebec's National Patriots' Day naming, provincial civic days), which affect branch hours locally but not the federal settlement calendar.
Standard Sat/Sun weekend. When a holiday falls on a weekend, federally regulated workplaces generally observe the next business day; the CRA due-date rule shifts to the next business day.

Not yet published. China's 2027 calendar has not been issued by its source. It will appear here when it is — never filled in from a pattern.
  • Make-up working days (workingWeekends) are full official working days — banks and markets that follow the State Council calendar are OPEN on those Saturdays/Sundays; offshore counterparties usually are not, so cross-border settlement on those dates is asymmetric.
  • The circular governs statutory holidays; PBOC/CFETS publish their own market-closure notices mirroring it — interbank FX/RMB market treatment of make-up weekend days can differ by product and should be checked against the CFETS notice before relying on a make-up day for settlement.
  • Weekend days inside holiday blocks (e.g. 2026-01-03, 2026-04-04) are listed as holidays per the circular's block definition.

2027
Not yet published. Colombia's 2027 calendar has not been issued by its source. It will appear here when it is — never filled in from a pattern.
  • Colombia publishes no annual official holiday gazette; the dates are permanent statute (Ley 51/1983 as amended). Observed dates above were derived by applying the statute text (read in full) to the 2026 calendar; every movable anchor date is corroborated by at least one other primary source read for this file.
  • 19 national holidays in 2026 after Ley 2578 de 2026 added 9 July (first observed year: 2026, as Monday 13 July).
  • The 13 July observance rests on Ley 2578 Art. 6's express incorporation of Ley 51's shifting rules; commentary concurs, but no separate official calendar confirms it — flagged as the one interpretive step.
  • Banco de la República publishes its payment-system non-business days operationally; its public 'días festivos' page returned 404 at read date (dead end logged).

  • Sukkot 2026 (Sep 25 eve Fri, first day Sat Sep 26; Shemini Atzeret Sat Oct 3) and Rosh Hashanah days 1-2 (Sat/Sun Sep 12-13) fall on/around the weekend and therefore do not appear in the BOI weekday list - retail branch behaviour that week still differs from a normal week.

  • This is the BOI services calendar; the Banking Supervision branch-closure schedule (retail bank holidays incl. Purim practice, holiday-eve closures) was NOT located - gap.
  • Hebrew-calendar dates are deterministic (no sighting): recorded provisional:false.

🇲🇽 Mexico

weekend: Sat + Sun
Convention: Bank closure days ('días inhábiles bancarios') per the CNBV general disposition for 2026 published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación — the legal instrument ordering credit institutions to close. This list DIFFERS from the broader civic calendar (no May 5, no Sep 21-style days; adds Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Nov 2 and Dec 12, which are not Ley Federal del Trabajo rest days).
Saturdays and Sundays are closure days for supervised financial entities by Article 1.IX of the CNBV disposition (not merely custom).

Not yet published. Mexico's 2027 calendar has not been issued by its source. It will appear here when it is — never filled in from a pattern.
  • The official DOF text does NOT include 5 May 2026, contrary to several press summaries — the primary text governs.
  • CNBV may order extra closures (Art. 2); entities may open/close on additional days by notice (Arts. 3-4); cards/ATMs keep operating (Art. 7).
  • Task brief suggested banxico.org.mx: Banxico's own 'días inhábiles' pages were unreachable (JS-only/empty responses; dead ends logged). The CNBV disposition in the DOF is the legal instrument that closes banks and satisfies the primary-source rule (official gazette). The Banxico DOF item found (codigo=5777075) is only its transparency-authority calendar, not bank closures.
  • The CNBV publishes this instrument annually in December — 2027 not yet published.

Not yet published. Russia's 2027 calendar has not been issued by its source. It will appear here when it is — never filled in from a pattern.
  • The long New Year break (Dec 31 - Jan 11 in the 2026 cycle) is the dominant settlement gap; the working day before it (Dec 30) is a pre-holiday short day (one hour shorter under Art. 95).
  • Pre-holiday working days (day before a statutory holiday) are shortened by one hour nationally - relevant to cut-offs.
  • Bank of Russia publishes its own payment-system working-day notices mirroring the production calendar; not separately captured - gap.
  • Mar 9 and May 11 observed days are statutory automatic transfers under Labor Code Art. 112, not decree-specific; the decree only moves Jan 3/Jan 4.

  • Eid windows are Hijri-anchored (published through 1450H/2029) — Gregorian equivalents are SAMA's own but remain moon-sighting-sensitive for future years; 2026 windows are past and final, 2027+ flagged provisional.

Monday 2026-06-15 declared the official holiday for public and private sectors although 1 Muharram fell Tue 2026-06-16 (Fatwa Council). Reported by multiple outlets citing the FAHR/MOHRE circular; the FAHR circular page itself was not directly read - flagged provisional until read. Do not publish without re-verifying.

Prophet Mohammed's Birthday (12 Rabi al-Awwal 1448)
FAHR Circular No. 11 of 2026, issued 2026-08-07: the Prophet Mohammad's Birthday holiday for 1448 AH is observed Friday 2026-08-28 in the federal government. 12 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 fell earlier in the week; 28 Aug is the declared observed date, and it is a normal working day under the Sat-Sun weekend, so banks close. MOHRE's private-sector notice was not read directly.

2027
Not yet published. United Arab Emirates's 2027 calendar has not been issued by its source. It will appear here when it is — never filled in from a pattern.
  • Islamic holidays depend on moon sighting; observed dates are announced per-occasion by FAHR (federal) and MOHRE (private sector) and can differ by a day from astronomical estimates — the 2026 Hijri New Year was observed Jun 15 while 1 Muharram fell Jun 16.
  • No weekend/holiday transfers (Cabinet Resolution 27/2024 Art. 3) — holidays falling on Sat/Sun are simply absorbed.
  • Federal (FAHR) and private-sector (MOHRE) blocks can differ by a day (Eid Al Fitr 2026: federal 4 days, private 3-4 days).
  • Sharjah government weekend is Fri-Sat-Sun — emirate-level operations differ from the federal calendar.
  • CBUAE settlement-calendar notices were not separately captured — banks follow the cabinet-approved holiday announcements.

Eighteen countries, and none of them work the way you assume

Each of these is in the verified data above — not folklore.

China
Working weekends exist
Spring Festival runs nine days — but six weekends in 2026 are officially working days, declared in the same State Council circular that grants the holidays. No other country here does this.
Israel
The week starts Sunday
Banks settle Sunday to Thursday; Friday–Saturday is the weekend. Purim closes Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on different days (3 and 4 March 2026).
Saudi Arabia
Two official calendars
For Eid al-Fitr 2026, branches close 17–23 March but the central bank's settlement system closes only 19–22. Both windows are in the data, labelled.
Euro area
Closed banks, open euros
TARGET, the euro settlement system, closes only days in 2026. French branches close on Bastille Day; euro settlement runs anyway. Both layers shown for France and Germany.
Colombia
Holidays move by law
The Emiliani Law shifts most holidays to the following Monday — observed dates in 2026, several far from their nominal day.
South Korea
The printed calendars are wrong
Two 2026 laws added Labour Day and restored Constitution Day after the annual calendar plan was printed. Calendars built from the plan are missing two holidays; this one is built from the law.

Eighteen sources, stated plainly

One primary source per country

Every date was read from that country's own authority — central banks, official gazettes, the State Council circular, the ECB's settlement calendar — each linked with a read date on its country panel. No aggregator sits between the source and this page, because aggregators are where the wrong dates come from.

What "not yet" looks like

China's 2027 circular isn't issued. Russia's 2027 decree isn't signed. Moon-dependent dates aren't fixed until confirmed — they carry a provisional badge until the official circular lands. Where a date isn't published, the page says not yet published. It is never filled in from last year's pattern, because a transferred holiday is exactly what breaks a pattern.

What we deliberately leave out

Cutoff clocks and same-day windows live in licensed rulebooks and vary per bank — we answer the calendar question exactly and refuse the clock question. A "bank holiday" governs settlement, not every branch door. When the honest answer is "your bank decides", the page says that. Nothing here is financial advice.
